How to choose the right charger for your scooter?
The charger must be perfectly matched to the battery. The charging voltage is higher than the nominal voltage: a 48V (13S) battery charges to 54.6V (4.2V per cell). A charger with the wrong voltage damages the pack or the BMS. The amperage (A) sets the charging speed: the higher it is, the faster, but moderate charging spares the battery. Check the connector (type and polarity) and compatibility with the BMS. Always use a dedicated lithium charger and monitor the first charge.

The criteria to check before buying
| Criterion | Why does it matter? |
|---|---|
| Charging voltage | 54.6V for a 48V battery (13S). |
| Amperage (A) | Higher = faster charging. |
| Connector | Compatible type and polarity. |
| BMS compatibility | Essential for safe charging. |
| lithium charger | Dedicated to the battery chemistry. |
Frequently asked questions
Why a 54.6V charger for a 48V battery?
A 48V battery with 13 cells in series reaches 54.6V at full charge (4.2V per cell). The nominal voltage is 48V, but the charger must deliver 54.6V to fill it completely and safely.
Which charger amperage should you choose?
A high amperage recharges faster but heats the battery more; a moderate amperage extends the pack's lifespan. For daily use, a sensible compromise protects the battery without endless charging.
Can you use any charger?
No: the voltage and connector must match your battery exactly. An unsuitable charger can destroy the pack or trigger the BMS. Always use a lithium charger designed for your voltage.
